Revised Education Expense Reimbursement_Leave Program

The Education Expense Reimbursement/Leave Program policy (DOP-P16) has been revised due to changes by the U.S. Department of Education to the federal Rule governing the recognition of accrediting agencies.

The Department, which provides oversight over the postsecondary accreditation systems, no longer distinguishes between National and Regional accreditation agencies of postsecondary Education. Therefore, consistent with these changes, the DOP Education Expense Reimbursement/ Leave Program policy (DOP-P16) has been amended to require College and University accreditation by any NATIONAL accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Department of Education recognizes State agency accreditation for vocational education and nurse education programs. Accreditation of vocational and nursing education programs requires recognition by the West Virginia Department of Education. The DOP Education Expense Reimbursement/ Leave Program policy (DOP-P16) and updated forms (see below) are available on the DOP website.
