FLSA Interpretive Bulletin and FLSA Supervisor's Guide Updated

12/6/2019

The U.S. Department of Labor’s (U.S. DOL) final rule updating the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) overtime pay requirements becomes effective January 1, 2020.  The rule increases the minimum salary required for an employee to qualify for an exemption from $455 to $679 per week (equivalent to $35,308 per year) and increases the total annual compensation requirement for "highly compensated employees" from $100,000 to $147,414 per year.  No changes were made to the FLSA job duties test.  In response to these changes, the Division of Personnel (DOP) has updated the FLSA Interpretive Bulletin and Supervisor’s Guide to the FLSA on their website.

For any questions regarding the FLSA, visit the U.S. DOL’s website or contact DOP’s Employee Relations section at 681-313-2706.
