Working for the State of West Virginia offers great opportunities and great benefits! The process of applying for a State job is a bit different then from a private company, but it's easy to understand by following these steps:

Find the Official Openings: Always check the West Virginia Division of Personnel for official job postings. It's the most accurate source!

Build Your Master Profile: This online profile is your main application and resume. Take your time building it. It's very important! Be sure to include all of your education, previous jobs (with exact start/end dates), and any special training or certifications.

Verify the Requirements: Every job listing has Minimum Qualifications. Your profile must clearly show that you meet these basic requirements (like a specific degree or amount of work experience).

Get on the Register: Once your application is reviewed, your name may be added to a job Register. This means you're a possible candidate for the job. 

Wait to Hear About an Interview: Hiring managers check the Registers to select the best candidates for interviews. Don't forget to keep your contact information updated!​​
