Onboarding Employees Class Code OHRD190

Audience: Supervisors/Managers
Contact Hours: 3 Hours
Instructor: Sirena Bennett, M.A.
DOP-18 Applicable: Component IV

Course Description:

Onboarding has been reported as one of the single most important processes to ensuring a new employee’s success and acclimation to your agency’s climate and culture, and yet, according to Gallup polling, only 12% of people say their company does a good job with this process. And that statistic was established before the COVID-19 pandemic. So how do we translate these practices that we already struggled with into a virtual or partially virtual environment? Join us for this live virtual training where we establish best practices for onboarding and translate them into meaningful strategies.

Specifically, participants will:

  • Expand their views of onboarding beyond just simple orientation tasks;
  • Identify the steps to good onboarding;
  • Rethink the traditional timelines established for onboarding;
  • Identify strategies for relationship building; and
  • Establish early wins and projects to get people integrated early.

Audience & Applicability:

This course is designed for and fully applicable to both classified and classified-exempt employees. All content, examples, and guidance are relevant regardless of employment status.
