Being a working parent has perhaps never been more difficult than it has the past few months. Between juggling working from home and students learning remotely, many parents are overwhelmed and struggling to keep it all together. Even when life becomes more normal again, many of the challenges facing working parents will remain.
The Division of Personnel's Organization and Human Resource Development (OHRD) section wants to support working parents both now and in the future by establishing its first special interest group for working parents. The idea behind the working parent interest group is that by bringing together individuals experiencing similar problems and successes, they can support and learn from one another. This group, which is open to anyone experiencing the stresses and successes of working while trying to parent, will also include members who are subject matter experts on a variety of topics who will also be able to direct participants to resources and help answer questions.
This community will be formed by the participants so additional information on meetings and format will be generated once the group decides what they need to be successful.
